Question 1

Which exam boards' GCSE French grade boundaries do you cover?

Accepted Answer

We cover every major UK board with a GCSE French specification: AQA, Edexcel (Pearson), Edexcel International GCSE (Pearson). Each board publishes its own boundaries per series, so pick your board above to see the boundaries for your specification.

Question 2

What's the difference between Higher and Foundation tier French?

Accepted Answer

Most GCSE french specifications are tiered: Higher tier papers target grades 9-4 (with grade 3 as a safety net), and Foundation tier papers target grades 5-1. Your school enters you for one tier or the other; the mark you need to reach a given grade depends on the tier you sat, and boundaries are published separately for each tier.

Question 3

When are GCSE grade boundaries published?

Accepted Answer

GCSE grade boundaries are published at 8am on GCSE results day (mid-to-late August). Each board releases one PDF covering every subject that series. We update this page shortly after the boundaries land so you can look up your total against fresh numbers.

Question 4

Where can I revise GCSE French on Cognito?
